Mr. Edgar Groves

Since 1995, Mr. Edgar S. Groves has been music director and conductor of the Chorale. His name is synonymous with excellent choral music in the Shenango Valley.

For more than 30 years, he was choral director at Hickory High School, during which time his choral program grew to be one of the best high school programs in Pennsylvania.

He is a visiting professor at Grove City College, where  he teaches music methods and supervises student teachers.  He also is a visiting lecturer at Westminster College, where he teaches choral methods. Mr. Groves has been a visiting instructor at the following institutions: Edinboro University of PA, Youngstown State University, and Penn State Shenango. He has served as guest conductor at choral festivals in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Vermont, Virginia and Colorado and has been a guest lecturer at numerous clinics.

Mr. Groves earned a BS degree from Indiana University of PA and an MS from Westminster College. He has been recognized by the Pennsylvania House and Senate for service to education and has been listed in Who’s Who in Music and Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.

He has been on the faculty of the Pennsylvania Governor’s Schools for Excellence and was a finalist for Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year.
